Singles and Married: How to overcome depression in order for your joy to be full

Depression is a tool in the hand of the enemy. It is beyond your moods, temperaments or genetic make-up.

Depression has wrecked a lot of marriages and homes, tearing them apart irrevocably. Is depression something we must live and cope with?

Depression has levels. Depression can become so intense that the victim loses its mind. Depression can also be soul-gripping that it leads to suicide.


Mild depressive tendencies can manifest themselves when there is grief, disappointments or when the moods of a woman changes. But when your moods, thoughts and beliefs seeks to overwhelm your life and take control, leading you away from God and all that

is good, into oblivion and uncertainty, then some demonic influences are involved.

When depression leads to a drug culture, substance abuse, crime and other vices, it is now the devil trying to wreck destinies.

Depression can often start with worry in its early stages.

But what did Jesus Christ say about worry? He issued a commandment, “Do not worry!”

It was a command, so when you start worrying, you are actually in disobedience.

"Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [ in quality ] than food, and the body [ far above and more excellent ] than clothing?"  (Mat 6:25, AMP)

If you look at the messages of Jesus, He seems particular about us not losing our joy in any way. This is because it is with joy that you draw waters out of the well of redemption.

So you find Jesus telling us:
"These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. "  (Joh 15:11, KJV)

"Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full."  (Joh 16:24, KJV)

God wants your joy to be “full” so that there is no space for depression!

How can our joy be full? What are we supposed to do? For example, you are of age and you are not yet married. If you are not careful, you start getting depressed, you start telling yourself that something might be wrong with you, there may be a curse somewhere that is working against you and so on.

In order for your joy to be full maritally, you need to find a lady if you are man or you need to be found by a man if you are a lady.

So what do you do so that you joy will be full? The first scripture above gives us an insight. Jesus said, these things I have spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you and your joy might be full.

So the first thing there is that His words are a source of joy! When you keep reading, studying and meditating on God’s word, it brings you joy from within and it later translates to joy without.

 

The second thing is that He said you should ask. Make your requests known! I want your joy to be full. I want your prayers answered, so ask!

Now, let’s take another perspective.

I said earlier that depression often starts with worry. Worry comes through thoughts. What do we do with our thoughts? Everybody knows it when a negative thought starts coming. How do you handle it?

Let’s take a look at one more scripture before concluding this morning.
"(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"  (2Co 10:4-5, KJV)

Here the scripture calls negative thoughts strongholds. That is exactly what depression is. It is a stronghold! It seeks to hold you strongly and wouldn't want to let go.

But it says we can pull down these strongholds. When you need to pull down something, that means that thing is being built or erected. That is what the devil does!

He seeks to build or erect a stronghold in our mind. But thank God, we don't have to put up with it. We can pull every stronghold down because our weapons are mighty! Glory to God!

How do we do that?

Casting down imaginations…that is what you do! You cast that thought down before it takes root and become a stronghold.

How do you know a stronghold that might lead to depression?

That negative thought will seek to exalt itself against God’s word! The moment you see any thought, suggestions that is opposing God’s word, don't entertain it, pull it down, cast it down and you will be free from depression and despondency!

This morning I pray for you, you are free from depression in Jesus name. I curse that spirit of depression, I curse that spirit behind despondency and low self-esteem, I bind these wrong spirits and I proclaim you are free in Jesus name.

I release the joy of the Lord into your life. I declare over you that you will rejoice in Jesus name. In place of regrets and complaints, the Lord will fill your mouth with laughter in Jesus name.

Experience victory today! I curse that suicidal spirit. I curse that spirit that seeks to condemn you. Enter the throne of grace this morning, obtain mercy and find grace to help in your situation in Jesus name! 

Whosoever the son of man shall set free is free indeed, so I declare you are free today in Jesus name. God will do something in your life, something that will cause your joy to be full in Jesus name. Expect it. Believe it. I sense God’s power all over me writing this and I know somebody is getting free even now.

I can see shackles and chain around the mind be broken, literally in somebody’s life right now. I see somebody being pulled out of the miry clay and being set on the mountain. I see somebody being pulled out of that pit into your destiny! Blessed be the name of the Lord! Go ahead and rejoice and thank God for victory!
